Royal Thai Air Force nurses visit 59th Medical Wing

The 59th Medical Wing hosted five Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) nurses for a professional exchange in September and October 2024, offering them immersive experience in U.S. Air Force healthcare practices. The exchange focused on medical readiness, international collaboration, and hands-on training in areas like critical care and neonatal care, giving the Thai nurses practical insights to take back to their healthcare system. U.S. Air Force and RTAF nurses exchanged best practices and developed a mutual appreciation for each other's roles in patient care and military medical missions. This collaboration strengthened U.S.-Thailand ties and underscored the importance of a global healthcare network to enhance military readiness and foster enduring connections.

59th MDW transitions to TRICARE website

In a strategic move to consolidate military healthcare, the 59th Medical Wing has undergone a realignment under the Defense Health Agency. As part of this transformation, all medical treatment facilities have transitioned from their previous Air Force websites to a unified TRICARE website. The new TRICARE site marks a significant step forward, streamlining our efforts by maintaining a singular platform dedicated to providing comprehensive information for patients, military treatment facility details, and insight into our medical mission. This alignment underscores our commitment to the overarching mission of DHA.

Defense Health Network Central garners top honors for Ready Reliable Care initiatives

Four teams from Defense Health Network Central will be celebrated for their exceptional efforts to improve the Military Health System during a ceremony, Feb. 15, 2024. Dr. Lester Martinez-Lopez, assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, and Defense Health Agency Director Lt. Gen. Telita Crosland will present the Ready Reliable Care High Reliability Organization Awards to the winning teams, which include DHN Central’s 673rd Medical Group, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; 377th Medical Group, Kirtland Air Force Base; and Brooke Army Medical Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

TriService Nursing Research Program cultivates medical innovative solution through evidence-based practice, research

The TriService Nursing Research Program is the country’s first and only Department of Defense program that supports and fund armed forces nurses to conduct operationally relevant military nursing research and EBP that improves the quality of care provided to service members. TSNRP held its annual Research and Evidence-Based Dissemination Course April 4-6, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. The course serves as an opportunity for military nurse scholars to come together to discuss ongoing and past research, as well as plan future research efforts. Collaboration among all military nurses and military nurse retirees is essential for fostering innovative nursing science solutions and relies on every member to contribute to the overall success.
