Appointments

Acute Appointments

Acute appointments are for non-life-threatening/non-emergent concerns. Please call the Consult and Appointment Management Office (CAMO) at 210-916-9900 to request a same-day appointment. If same day appointments are unavailable, members may visit the Family Emergency Center (FEC) or utilize TRICARE network urgent care centers with authorization by calling the MHS Nurse Advice Line at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273), (select Option 1). TRICARE prime patients must receive a prior authorization to go to an urgent care or you will incur a bill, and for TRICARE Plus/TRICARE for life patients must use Medicare approved Urgent Care/ERs. 

Routine Appointments

Routine appointments are for annual exams, follow up visits and management of chronic conditions.

Routine appointments may be booked by calling CAMO at 210-916-9900 or through the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal

Virtual Appointments (Telehealth Visit)

Must be booked directly through the clinic. Call 210-292-5693 and leave a detailed message requesting an appointment, stop by the front desk or send a message to PCM Team via the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.

Procedure Appointment

Stop by the front desk to schedule the appointment or send a message to PCM Team via the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.

To Cancel or Reschedule Appointment

Please call the Consult and Appointment Management Office (CAMO) at 210-916-9900 or send an MHS GENESIS message to your PCM Team.


New Referrals

Please expect a 1 week wait for the processing of a new referral. Contact CAMO at 210-581-2266 (Option 1) for off base referrals, (Option 2) for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or contact Referral Management 210-292-7180 for a status update. Call Medicare at 1-800-633-4227 or medicare.gov for off base specialty physician options.

Please note: If the referral is for a specialty or procedure in which you have not received care or treatment before, an Internal Medicine appointment is required before a referral can be submitted. (Ex: knee injection procedure would require an Internal Medicine appointment for evaluation prior to being scheduled for the injection).
 

Requesting Medication Renewals (Clinic Messaging)

Please allow up to 10 duty days for Medication Renewals to be filled and submit your request your using one of the below methods 14 days prior to running out of medication.

By Phone

To request medication renewals for Internal Medicine, call 210-292-5693 (Option 1) to leave a message for your assigned team; please include the Patient’s Full Name, DOB, DOD ID number, your best contact number and a detailed message with the names of medications (including the refill number listed on the prescription label) being requested. A message can also be left with CAMO at 210-919-9900
