Important Update Regarding Direct Dermatology Messaging (eConsults)
To our valued SAMHS patients:
Effective August 14, 2026, the direct patient-to-provider Dermatology messaging service (often referred to as teledermatology eConsults) will be discontinued.
Why is this changing? In 2024, we launched a patient-direct messaging service as a pilot program to explore new ways to deliver care. While the program successfully demonstrated a high demand for digital healthcare, technical limitations within the current patient portal system have made it difficult to sustain the direct-to-patient service long-term.
How to get dermatologic care moving forward: If you have a new or ongoing skin concern, please contact your Primary Care team. Your primary care provider can evaluate your condition, consult directly with our dermatology specialists behind the scenes if needed, and place a referral for you to be seen in the Dermatology clinic when appropriate. We are incredibly grateful to the patients who participated in this innovation pilot over the last two years. The insights we’ve gained are actively being used to shape the future of military digital healthcare.
