Well Child Appointments

By 59th Medical Wing Public Affairs

 1) WHAT IS A WELL CHILD APPOINTMENT?

A well child check-up is a visit with your child’s medical provider to make sure your child is growing and developing appropriately, to conduct routine screenings, and to provide recommended immunizations. These visits start a few days after they are born, and continue into adulthood.

 2) WHAT HAPPENS AT A WELL CHILD APPOINTMENT?

Weight, height/length and appropriate vital signs obtained, history taken, and a physical exam performed.  Your child will also get their scheduled immunizations. Screening tests will be performed to see how your child is developing physically, socially, and emotionally.  You will also have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss immunizations, or talk about other concerns you may have.

 3) WHAT IF I TAKE MY CHILD OFF-POST FOR CARE?

If you are taking your child to any off-base medical appointment, please contact your Primary Care Team so that they can update your child’s records accordingly.

Our pediatrics clinic here at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center is scheduling well child appointments and providing immunizations. We are committed to provide your child with the best care. Please call CAMO line (210-916-9900) to schedule your appointment.
