The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
Our military medical center remains open and we’re continuing to provide healthcare services. Scheduled appointments and procedures are proceeding as planned, and new appointments continue to be booked. A team of U.S. military ophthalmologists and medical personnel assist a patient prior to going to the operating room to receive a Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery at Regional Hospital Dr. Luis "Chicho" Fabrega in Santiago de Veraguas, Panama, July 17, 2023. As part of a three-week mission the team rapidly conducted preliminary screenings for 300 patients in just three days. Following this initial phase, they accomplished a total of 291 surgeries over the subsequent eight days, resulting in an impact felt through nearly 750 clinic appointments.
