The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Skin cancer screenings at Wilford Hall

According to the World Cancer Research Fund International, skin cancer is the 17th most common cancer worldwide. It's the 14th most common cancer in men and the 14th most common cancer in women.

While everyone can get a skin cancer screening, but some people are at higher risk. Are you 25 years or older? Fit the below categories? Schedule a screening with our Dermatology team at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center - no referral required!

Risk factors for skin cancer:
- Fair skin that burns or freckles easily
- Blond or red hair
- Light-colored eyes, such as blue or green
- History of sunburns or tanning bed use
- A job requiring extended time outdoors
- Family or personal history of skin cancer
- Having more than 50 moles

Detect and treat early! Call the Consult and Appointment Management Office at (210) 916-9900 to schedule your skin cancer screening exam. This exam is offered to TRICARE beneficiaries age 25 and older who have not had an appointment with WHASC Dermatology within the past year. These appointments are first-come, first-serve and are for skin cancer screening only. For all other skin, hair, or nail concerns, contact your Primary Care Provider for a Dermatology consult.
